PAGE TWENTY-SIX

Panel 1. A shot over Lodestone's shoulder at Noir, standing on the platform, guns in her hands, illuminated by the big light.

Noir: IF THAT THING REALLY WORKED, DOZENS OF COMPANIES – MAYBE EVEN THE GOVERNMENT – WOULD PAY YOU A FORTUNE FOR IT.

Panel 2. Close-up on Lodestone as he screams, waving his fist at her.

Lodestone: THEY LAUGHED AT ME!

Lodestone: ONE DEMONSTRATION – JUST ONE! – FAILED, AND THEY CALLED ME A JOKE!

Panel 3. Close-up on his arm as Lodestone slams the switch lever home.

Lodestone: BUT I'LL SHOW THEM!

Sfx: THUNK!

Panel 4. Noir raises her arms to shield her face from a flash of white light.

Panel 5. We're back near the bridge as the crowd witnesses a huge flash of light at the top of the lighthouse across the bay.
