Commentary: The lyrics to the song on this page, “Dark And Stormy Night,” were written by my old friend Mark Gerardi. I wanted a song that evoked the old standards, and also thematically tied into the “world” of Femme Noir. Fortunately, I remembered Mark’s “atmospheric” blues song  and he was gracious enough to let me use it. Thanks again, Cochise!

Panel 1. Okay – I see this as an open panel running top-to bottom on the left hand side of the page – a full-length shot of Dahlia Blue at her Rita Hayworth Gilda-best, singing into her microphone. Down the right side of the page will be four stacked, uniform panels showing various members of the crowd reacting to her singing.

Band leader: (off-panel) ,,,Miss Dahlia Blue!

Panel 2. Close-up on the musicians on the stage as they accompany the singer.

Panel 3. In this panel, we show a few of port nocturne politicos and their women. Sitting in the middle is mayor Marion Knett, and to one side of him is (new character) district attorney Jonathan Lawliss. I see Lawliss as a somewhat sinister-but-good looking, slender fellow with glasses and slicked back hair. They're drinking, dining, and having a good time.

Panel 4. In this: Vanessa DeMilo sits with a group of young, too-pretty men and women – Port Nocturne's rich kids, heirs and heiresses all. They're all laughing, smiling, having fun.

Panel 5. Standing in the doorway at the back of the club is detective Rod Riley, flanked by two uniformed bulls. In contrast to the rest of the crowd, the police officer looks decidedly grim and serious.
